Kipper Sailing's 14 Day Fastrack RYA Day Skipper Course takes someone with little or no previous sailing direct to Day Skipper, enabling them to charter sailing yachts in the UK and Overseas.
The course starts on a Sunday night and runs until a week on Sunday, so you need to take 2 weeks of work. The first five days (Monday to Friday) are spent at sea onboard Kipper, learning the basics, during our Competent Crew Course. The next 4 days (Saturday to Tuesday) are spent in the classroom on picturesque Lymington Quay, where you learn the basics of navigation, meteorology and the rule of the road. Then it's off to sea for 5 days (Wednesday to Sunday) to put what you've leant in the classroom into practice plus all the practical skills necessary to skipper a small yacht by day including: preparation for sea; deck work; pilotage; engine checks; emergency situations; passage making; handling under & power.
Kipper Sailing's RYA 5 Day Competent Crew Course introduces the complete beginner to yachting and teaches personal safety, seamanship and helmsmanship to the level required to be a useful member of the crew of a cruising yacht. Course content includes: knowledge of sea terms and parts of a boat, her rigging and sails; sail handling; ropework; fire precautions; personal safety; man overboard; emergency equipment; manners and customs; helmsmanship and sailing.
